{ Fall Decorating }

Frizzy hair season has gone, and Fall is movin' in.
It's time to change out the clothes and the decor.
Don't sweat it though. I've got some simple, easy and often free ideas for how you can bring Fall into your home.

Last year I painted this fabulous Fall sign curiosity of Ella Claire.
And, the sweater pumpkins were a cinch to make.

I also made some original pumpkins with music sheet paper and guest napkins.
I reused the old black metal shutters that used to hang on our house as a back drop for the vintage paper wreath. (remember it's Fall, so layer people layer!)

The black bat mantel was a huge hit and a great craft to do with your kids.
It's simply made from black card stock cut into different sized bat shapes, then creased in the center. I use double side tape to attach them to the wall.

Although this window box filled with pine cones looked great and was free, skip the candles. This little project went up in flames one night while hosting a party.

Our first Fall in this home I filled the fireplace with pumpkins painted with flames and candles.

So there you have it. A bunch of ideas for you to bring Fall into your home without stress.

For more ideas check out my pinterest Fall page. I have a Fall DIY page and a Fall Style page.
And, if you love to camp in the Fall, I even have a Camping Style page.

{Sponsored video by Lowe's & Vine}

Truth be told, I'm not that familiar with vine. I thought it was only for iphone users, and I'm a droid fan. I don't know how you people function with iphones. I guess my brain just doesn't work the way apple would like it to. I'm all thumbs when it comes to apple products. But, now I am a Vine fan. I've downloaded it to my droid and I'm ready to go. I think my user name is thepaintedhome, who knows. We'll see if I can figure out somethin' snappy and 6 seconds worthy of a few smiles. And, too bad I can't link my user name to my vine account, or I would. If you know how, let me know!
If you surf Vine, check out Lowe's posts. I am truly amazed. I think Lowe's has cracked the code. Their videos are both useful and creative. Once I clicked the link I couldn't stop watching them. Who knew potatoes could be so handy when changing a light bulb? And a hair dryer to remove stickers? What the what? I've read the tips before in text, but so much more memorable in a six-second video! I'm dying to dig in and get some posts going. Are you on Vine? Let me know and I'll pop over and check you out too! This post is sponsored by Lowe's

{ The Crafty Camper }

Hey there! I'm excited to announce a new part of The Painted Home.
This Fall I will be launching The Crafty Camper. Which is a mobile DIY workshop & Market all packaged neatly in a vintage camper. Yes. A 1972 Shasta to be exact!
It's being painted and decorate as you read this.
Although I'm in no condition to pull the camper myself on a beach cruiser, I think you get the idea from the image below.
It going to be a fun, light-hearted craft time with new friends and old.
I'll be traveling the east coast (and maybe even the west coast if gas prices ever fall) stopping at vintage markets along the way.
I'll even be available for private parties.

It's time you actually MADE all those crafts you've been pinning on Pinterest!

{ A Vintage Camper and a Dream }

Do you ever have a dream that keeps coming back to you?
You talk about it and talk about it.
Mostly to yourself.
Then one day you realize, what the what? why is that a dream
Why isn't that reality?
And you just go out and do it.

It feels good.
I did it.
Lot's of exciting news coming up for The Painted Home.
And it's not just showing you pics of my vintage camper redo. 'cause you're gonna gave to sit through those as well.
It's real live hands-on stuff.
Like you and I are going to be elbow to elbow kind of stuff.
Like you and I will be drinking a glass of wine together and giggling.

Yes. It's good stuff.

So, in the mean time, while you are on the edge of your seat wonder what I'm talking about.
Waste some time hear, like I do...

It's no longer a dream.

Now it's your turn. Act out your dream.

{ Barn wood Like Floor Covering }

One of the best things I did this summer was create a mom cave in my own back yard.

It's cozy and cute and full of all kinds of vintage goodness.

The item in the mom cave that received the most comments was the barn wood like flooring.
Everyone wanted to know what is was and where it was from.

The rug is an actual photograph of vintage white barn wood floors printed on neoprene area rugs.
I have had people actually think they would get splinters if they walked on it in bare feet.

the rugs are made by

and you can order online.
But, I'll be carrying them in my spot at Serendipity and at Clover Market on October 27th.

It's so stinkin' cute, I could think of a million places around my house I could use them!

{ Happy By Design }

I was recently asked by HomeGoods to participate in a design series on Pinterest.
I'm joining 9 other fabulous decor bloggers from across the country here, to show how we use HomeGoods in our designs.
Ahh, not hard to do, since HomeGoods has tons of great stuff, right?

I'm starting out the week creating a surprise home makeover for one of my clients' daughters. Uh, yes please, where do I sign up for that birthday present? Can you say "Mom of the year"?

So, I hope you'll follow along on Pinterest and gather some great tips & ideas on using HomeGoods in your own homes.

See you at HomeGoods!

{ Decorating with Natural Elements }

If your trying to give your home a little rustic/organic feel, try decorating with mother nature's free accessories.

We're lucky enough to have access to feathers in our own back yard, thanks to our flock of chickens.
Next time you go to a farm, ask the farmer if you could collect some from his chickens. They are easily found all over the ground.

Antlers are hot in home decor right now. Take a stroll through the wood and see what you can find.
That's what we did.
You could also check out flea market, or estate sales.

Use bowls or vases with a little shine to gather and contrast with the natural elements.

There you go. Add a the woodsy feel of nature to your home!

*no animals were harmed for the sake of decorating.

{ Vintage Painted Dresser }

This dresser is in great shape and is painted Annie Sloan Versailles.

Inside the drawers is a great pop of color - Annie Sloan Scandinavian Pink.

This dresser will be at my booth at Serendipity soon.
And I will also be at the Chestnut Hill Location of Clover Market on Oct. 27th
