{How to Embellished IKEA Curtain Panels}

If you follow me on facebook or instagram, you know that I've been in hot glue heaven.

I'm not much of a sewer, more of a hot gluer.

So here's a simple way you can embellish your curtain panels.

(ALERT: If you're the type to spend hundreds, even thousands on your window treatments, look away. This is not for you. You may have nightmares that someone would even put curtain panels up that do not move, block light, or even provide privacy.)

okay, you hackers still with me? here we go.
Wash & dry the curtain panels.
Take them our of the dryer immediately, or they will look all sloppy like the ones you see here.

I like to rely on gravity, humidity and any other excuse I can make up to assure you that these curtains will eventually loose there crinkles. And if they don't , I think I will somehow survive.

I'll also survive the blinding yellow tone on these photos. blahh. (the hazards of doing projects at night)

Roll out your burlap webbing so it is about 8" longer than your panel. 8" might seem excessive to you, but you can always cut. You can't add any once you've messed it up by cutting too short.

I laid my webbing down so it covered the threads on the hem. (both at the top near the grommet and the side hem) If your panels don't have grommets, then you're good to go all the way to the top of your panel.

Rock on with your bad self.

Line the back edges of your webbing with hot glue and work your way down to the bottom of the panel.

At the bottom of the panel fold your webbing over and hot glue the excess webbing to the back of the panel.

I like the weight it gives the panel.

Yes, there are safety pins holding up the hem of my panels.

Smoke and mirrors baby. Smoke and mirrors.

It's just a touch of a difference. The perfect little accent to my brown panels.

I'll let you in on another little secret. I hide my shark vacuum behind one of the panels.

The curtains are from IKEA, which in my opinion is the best place to by pre-made curtain panels. Perfectly ready to be embellished.

Gather...

Create a paper templette with the size triangle you want to use. (It doesn't have to be perfect)

Use Pinking sheers to avoid fraying (and the sewing machine)

Hot glue string, twine, or ribbon to the back (or front) of your triangles

Clip stencil letters on your triangles with clothes pins, paper clips, whatever works.

Here's what you'll need

I fell in love with the fabric , and bought everything they had.

I plan on using it for cafe curtains on the sink above my window

in my new kitchen...

(are ya' payin' attention...

Believe it

First I cut a bunch of shapes out of the fabric with pinking sheers
I like the frayed look
(if you don't, this project's not for you)

I also cut a strip of coordinating fabric to run along the side

Then I just glued the pieces randomly around the pillow
with fabric glue

(pillow case from IKEA, like four bucks or something)

Cute-pa-toot I tell you!
Now, kids, dog, husband, get away from my new pillow!

been Mistreated...

The drop cloth drapes were one of the first things I hung up 

when me moved to this house last summer.

and, I like them.

Only I was itchin' for more...

I've been using Fabric.com for a while now

& I love it.

They make it so easy to search & find what you're looking for.

And, the swatches they send you are huge.

Not just a skimpy little snip, but an 8" X 8" good chunk.

{enough to turn into a flower pin, I'm sure}

Fabric.com will also suggest "go with fabrics" too.

My love for brown toile will never fade.

I have always loved the look of toile, in any color.

So finally, I added some to my own home. 

I used these simple clips from Lowes 

to hang the fabric.

No sewing, cutting, or hemming.

and I added them right along side of the drop cloths.
I know the drop cloths have that cute little fold at the top,
and the toile doesn't.
But I'm crazy like that.

And, there long enough to just plop onto
the floor in a puddle to gorgie brown toile-e-ness.

Evolution of a kitchen cabinet

There once was a wall ~

that (after a VERY long time) turned into an island of cabinets ~

those cabinets weren't very happy, and asked for a coat of glaze ~

like all fickle cabinets, they looked fine, but were still not happy ~

so one day they were covered in primer ~

and emerged shiney and black ~

too shiney infact, they felt guilty, and beat themselves up a little.
