{ Man Cave }

quite a sight, ehh?
I know it's a lot to take in.

Bear with me...

It'll all make sense in the end.
(Does anyone have any A.D.D. medication they can share?)

David Carter and 40 Winks

London stylist and interior designer David Carter packs a lot of umph into a room.
Looking around at virtual London getting ideas for my trip, he is one of the more interesting entries on the Wallpaper Magazine iphone app guide to London.

His house, called 40 Winks, is first on their list of cool places to stay. Yes, this modest brick terrace in London's east belies its grand interior. He rents out two of the bedrooms for short stays and also conducts "Bedtime Story" book reading events, with the likes of Helena Bonham Carter showing up in her PJs to read aloud.

David's painted finishes are what he is most well known for - this is one decorative device I must admit I have not thought much about since the early 90s. I find his work more like a film set in their attention to detail and theatrical gestures. Magazines like the wonderfully British World of Interiors love his whimsical work which is a pretty good endorsement.

Jonathan Adler comes to Atlanta

Finally!  The long-awaited Jonathan Adler store is opening in Atlanta.  I was able to get a sneak peek tonight right before I attended the Switch Modern Spotlight on Design event, thanks to Liz Lapidus PR

Before I show you the images, let me just say that the store is gorgeous!  My pictures definitely don’t do it justice.

{ Simple Pillow }

This cutie pillow was made in minutes...
no sewing involved what-so-ev'a

Here's what you'll need

I fell in love with the fabric , and bought everything they had.
I plan on using it for cafe curtains on the sink above my window
in my new kitchen...
(are ya' payin' attention...
ehh-hemm...NEW KITCHEN)
Believe it

First I cut a bunch of shapes out of the fabric with pinking sheers
I like the frayed look
(if you don't, this project's not for you)
I also cut a strip of coordinating fabric to run along the side

Then I just glued the pieces randomly around the pillow
with fabric glue
(pillow case from IKEA, like four bucks or something)

Cute-pa-toot I tell you!
Now, kids, dog, husband, get away from my new pillow!

{ Farmhouse Mantel }

A few weeks ago, John, from
made me this mantel

I finally got around to taking some photos of it.

I love the rustic chunky-ness of it.

I think I need some white or silver
candle sticks for Spring/Summer

But I love the layered effect of the wreath on the door.

The brass part of the fireplace I could do without.

Have a great sunny day!

Friday Find

I’m really excited to share this amazing find with you today.

nick b-day, white dresser, etc 016_thumb[2]

I was over at Lakietha’s blog reading about her newly updated entry table and I fell in love.  The dresser that she refinished is gorgeous, but I was more in love with the hardware that she put on the drawers.  It’s to die for.  She found it from a source that I had never her of called MyKnobs.com

This is an up close and personal shot of the pulls.

{Progress in the Quick Fix Bathroom Project}

I know it doesn't seem like much,
but remember the before

I used oil based KILZ to cover the old gray & pink tiles.

I let the KILZ dry for about 24 hours.
Then I covered it in latex semi gloss
{Swiss Coffee - by BEHR}

the vanity has been painted the same black as all the doors in the house.

I don't know why I left the toothbrush holder and the soap dish pink?

no knob yet, still deciding

shutters are up
wallpaper is down

and something has to be done with those brass hinges...

it's amazing what a black toilet seat can do to a white toilet.

and one more addition to the room,
if I can get someone to remove the toilet for me...I've got a great surprise
