{ House Tour at Houzz.com }

You know the feeling. The house is clean and calm and all you want to do it run around and take photos of it. Proving, that, on occasion, a civilized family lives here.
I experienced that feeling recently. Only better. A professional photographer took the photos (Sara Bates, who also writes her own home decor blog - Embrace My Space).
Sara worked some magic and captured my momentarily clean house for Houzz.com.
And, it's a treat to be a featured house tour on their website this week.

Thanks Sara and HOUZZ.com!

{BHG Stylemaker Event}

Last Thursday was a whirlwind.
I had my normal mom morning, then quickly showered, through together an outfit, with boots and a scarf of course. Jumped in the car to meet up with Carrie from Making Lemonade, and drove to NJ to catch a train to NYC for the BHG Style Maker Event.

The highlight of the night was listening to a panel of style experts talk candidly about there techniques and a bit of their own lives.

I hung with my pal Kelly from Eclectically Vintage, and made lot's of new ones.

The food was fabulous and totally pinterest worthy.

We all got together to mingle and have some fun at the photo booth. It was so fun to meet other women that share the same passion, whether it was food, fashion or home decor.

And...here's my favorite moment of the night. Chatting about trash-picking with the Eddie Ross!
Yes, Eddie trash picks too.
(this pic is from my instagram feed. (follow along if you'd like)
Eddie is totally real and funny and the guy in the room everybody wants to be with.

So, that's that. My next trip will be to Frederick, MD to finally meet my internet pal, Cassie from Primitive & Proper. Cassie has recently taken over Sweet Clover , which is a monthly vintage barn sale.
On October 5th, Hometalk is sponsoring a Halloween Hunt at Sweet Clover and 3 other great shops in the area.
If you'd like to go, click here for more details. message me if your going, we totally hang!

{ Headboard Bench }

I'm in love with this bench. And, although I have it for sale at the shop, I'm still trying to figure out a way to bring it back home.

It was created from a full size headboard and a vintage door.

We used the door for the "legs" and some scrap wood for the seat.
Then, painted it all with Miss mustard Seed Milk Paint. I think it is "shutter gray".
I left the medallion of painted flowers in the center of the headboard just because.

It's perfect for a foyer or a breakfast nook.
I'm thinking of a way to add it into my new master bedroom design.
It can be found here.

{ Guest Room Reveal...again }

If your wondering what the guest room looked like "before" check it out here.
I recently took out the twin beds and made them bunk beds for Jonas's room (more on that another day).
The walls are still the same (I hate the color), I just rearranged and changed out some furniture and accessories. (while shopping the house of course)

The pillows and bedding are all miss-matched and favorite things I find and can't resisit at flea markets and thrift stores.

This one is a laundry bag from the 70's.

The side table is a vintage school desk a friend game me. I washed it with a little blue paint one day.

Paper flowers, of course.

I love to use books in my vignettes. They add such texture and color.

Especially when the pages look like this...

The back wall is covered in book pages. (A guest favorite)

And this sconce is an IKEA left over from our previous house. I covered the shade in burlap and a thin trim of rope.

Curtains - easy peasy IKEA again.

The bed I LOVE. It was a brass-ish bed from a thrift store ($20.) that I spray painted black.

Did you spot this door in other pictures? Still deciding what to do with it. Someday something will hang on it.
'Til then, I just love the texture and color.

I used to have a desk under this set of shelves. But, it just became a messy spot for papers.

That's it people.

{ Colorfully Painted Desk }

I use Miss Mustard Seeds milk paint. It's almost like a sampler of her fabu colors. Except the purple. I mixed that myself with a combination of milk paint colors.

I left the top wood. It's sanded smooth with a poly finish. I like that it shows years of wear and love.

{New items in the Shop}

I've been tweaking (not twerking) and adding to the shop lately, so I thought I'd post a few pictures.

Since the Holidays are coming (like it or not), I tried to focus on entertaining pieces, like bar ware, extra seating, and a few accessories pieces for the center of your table.

I'll also be a vendor at Clover Market in Chestnut hill, PA on Sunday October 27th.
For more info on that check it out here.
